Camy Tang Book List

********************

Interview with Camy Tang
Name one thing about yourself that would shock readers if they knew.
I don’t know if this will shock readers, but I love paranormal romance! Yes, give me a vampire or werewolf any day! I am unashamedly a fan of Twilight, and recently I started getting into the TV show, Bitten. I guess paranormal romance is fun for me because I know that none of it is true, whereas sometimes contemporary fiction makes me sad because I know some of the sad things that happen are true.

When not writing, what hobbies do you enjoy?
I love to knit, spin wool into yarn, and I’m currently training to run the Honolulu Marathon in December 2014!

What is the strangest real life situation that is in one of your stories?
This isn’t a personal situation that happened to me, but it happened to my roommate. All of the “house troubles” that Trish runs into in Only Uni are totally true. My roommate ran into each of them when she was house hunting, and when she told me about them, I had to put them in the book.

Have you traveled to do research for your books?
Yes! I traveled to England in 2013 to do research for my first Regency romance, which comes out in August this year, titled Prelude to a Lord. It was an amazing trip! My favorite places were Bath and Newstead Abbey, so half the book is in Bath, and the hero’s estate is modeled after Newstead Abbey, the home of Lord Byron.

Do you laugh and cry while writing your books?
I didn’t used to cry as much, but lately since I’ve started early peri-menopause, I’ve been crying even at commercials! I recently wrote a scene in “Necessary Proof,” a romantic suspense novella in the First Kisses collection (it’ll be out on March 15th), and I started bawling as I was typing. I think I scared my husband because he rushed into my office with this panicked look on his face and said, “What? What’s wrong?”

Me: “It’s just the scene I’m writing.” (sniffle sniffle sob sob)

him: “Maybe you should write happy books.”

Me: “This is a happy book. I’m crying because the scene is happy.”

him: (puzzled look)

Do you write about places you have lived?
Sometimes. The Sushi series is set in San Jose, where I’ve lived, but Protection for Hire is set in San Francisco, which I’ve only visited. I’ve only visited Sonoma, I’ve never actually lived there, yet I set my Sonoma romantic suspense series there because I love the city and surrounding areas.

What is your go-to snack?
Potato chips! and taro chips! and Cheetohs! and veggie chips! and Pringles! and shortbread cookies! and gingerbread cookies! and that’s only what’s in my snack closet right now! (yes I actually have a snack closet)

Lady Wynwood's Spies Series
Prelude for a Lord
Early 1800s England was not very accepting of women playing certain instruments. Specifically the violin. Alethea Sutherton was the type of female who when told not to do something...did it. She excelled at playing the violin, even if only within her own home. A violin that was from one of two people who ever had shown her love, she now finds her treasure the target of a thief.

Lord Dommick, Bayard, is scarred by war and now his family has been scarred as well. Nasty rumors from his former betrothed has put his sister’s coming out into a poor light and he will do what he can to restore his families reputation. The last thing he needs is to be tangled up with the prickly female violinist who is already shunned by the London ton.
As important as family is, honor and protecting is also a strong trait in Bayard. He cannot let Alethea battle the unknown enemy alone. He also is too honorable to allow any woman to be entangled with his scarred heart.

A romance with suspense tangled throughout the story. A young woman who goes against the norm to love her base-born sister and find solace in her own musical talent. The story keeps the reader unsure who the villain is. It also reminds the reader that both in fiction and real life how easy it is to try and get by on our own instead of turning to God. A wonderful read. I hope that we will see more books about the secondary characters who also came to life in this story.

The Spinster's Christmas
Miranda was always a bit different, quiet. And unloved. She is now dependent upon her cousin and not treated well.

Captain Gerard Foremont is crippled and feels like a burden to his parents. As they go to spend Christmas with some family friends, he is saddened to see the young girl he once knew treated unjustly.

Both have their own personal struggles and to add to it, some mystery person is after one of them. I loved some secondary characters while despising others.
**Originally published in Mistletoe Kisses Boxed Set.
Prequel: The Gentleman Thief

This is a series that will be ongoing through each book. The Spinster’s Christmas is also part of the series, so there are two prequels before Archer, which will be volume one.

There are many characters in this book. The Rampart’s, a secret group of spies for the government, is after a jewel thief. He’s been stealing jewels during balls and parties that he has somehow been invited to. Mr. Solomon “Sol” Drydale is put on the case.

In this story, one part of the case is solved, but the mystery of who is behind it is continued into the next book. Page-turning adventure. Maybe a touch of romance, but nothing obvious.

Volume 1: Archer

Phoebe Sauber’s life is changing...and not in a good way. Not only has her father dropped the bomb that he’s remarrying, but he also seems ready to cut her out of his life completely. Good thing she has Aunt Laura to take her in. For now, anyway, in this time period as a woman, Phoebe is pretty much her father’s property.

Michael Coulter-Jones is determined to find the man who murdered his brother a year ago. He’s used to working alone, but when he sees other men hunting the same person he is, it’s time to join up with them. And to continue ignoring Phoebe. His life has no room for a woman.

So many different situations are happening...but the story flows beautifully with all of them. The first two prequels: The Spinster’s Christmas and The Gentleman Thief, both introduce you to some of these characters. Like Laura Wynwood and Solomon “Sol” Drydale. These are volumes that end with cliffhangers but are packed full. I love this series.

Volume 2: Berserker

Thorne Rosmont has been recruited to help find Septimus Ackett. A missing agent and a good friend to Michael. He was used to working solo, but soon found himself surrounded by others. In the end, he was thankful for the team around him.

Phoebe has found something she wants to do in her life, besides being her father's property to do with as he pleases. She wants to be an agent like Solomon Drydale and some of the other agents she recently met. She gets a taste of it as they go to rescue Sep, along with her friend Keriah, Aunt Laura's coachman, Mr. Havner, the twins...Calvin and Clara.

They are all facing an enemy like none has faced before. Not even those who have fought in the war. No, Jack Dix is an evil, demented man who is making monsters. Taking men and giving them the Root, which makes them stronger in so many ways.

An incredible series that is continued from one volume to the next.

Volume 3: Aggressor

Michael Coulton-Jones has woken up after being sedated. He may no longer be acting as a Berserker, but being forced to take the Root has left other complications. Possibly life-threatening ones. Phoebe Sauber, Laura Wynwood, Keriah, Lady Aymer, Sol Drydale, Thorne, and Sep are all doing all they can to stop Apothecary Jack and his Root.

Complications, besides Michael’s issues, are making the search harder. French spies, deadly plants, and more keep sidetracking them. It’s a dangerous mission, especially when you include civilians instead of the trained agents. Although, Michael is impressed at how well Miss Sauber (Phoebe) can disguise herself. And the regrets he has in life. And Thorne is finding he had much rage inside that’s been locked up for too long.

I love this series, each book has some closure, but the volumes each continue the story. So be warned that they do end on cliffhangers at times…but they are intriguing reads. They do get violent at times, so be warned. It’s all a part of the background of what’s going on around them.

Volume 4: Betrayer

The saga continues with our group of spies. Phoebe Sauber and Keriah Gardinier have been training in ways to fight better. But, as women, they have to use more than their strength. Lady Wynwood, Laura, struggles with telling Sol one secret from her past that she’s held back from him. Not as easy as it sounds since she doesn’t want to lose his friendship.

Mr. Colton-Jones, Michael, is living with a death sentence. The girls have kept him alive by giving him root every few days, but he knows that can’t last forever. It has him growing closer to God. Mr. Drydale, Sol, has realized he missed a crucial person in the past as being more important than he’d thought, and it has him doubting himself.

A fast-paced story that had my heart beating fast as I turned the pages, feeling and seeing all around me as if I were part of it. I love all the different POVs and the unique characters. Suspense, a fantastic story, and a couple of underlying romances have me anxious for the next volume the minute I finish one.

Each volume does end on a cliffhanger.

Volume 5: Prisoner

Solomon “Sol” Drydale has developed quite a team under his command in the Ramparts. Mr. Coulton-Jones, Mr. Ackett, Mr. Rosmont, le petit prince. Miss Phoebe Sauber, the niece of his good friend Lady Wynwood, and Phoebe’s friend Miss Keriah Gardinier have been so helpful in finding potions to use against the men who are the Root.

But now, something stinks at the Ramparts. Two of the other senior officers have been let on the case. Laura, Lady Wynwood, has been kidnapped. These additional agents seem much more concerned with finding the Root than Laura.

The group of agents and civilians under Sol pull together to find Laura. With some, their faith is strengthened, their prayers more fervent. Others who had less faith wondered if Laura’s and Phoebe’s faith was the answer.

As always, these volumes solve one dilemma but end with a cliffhanger. However, an ongoing main story continues as it follows the characters’ lives. I always look forward to the next volume. An excellent series. Each book does end on a cliffhanger.

Volume 6: Martyr

This series is incredible. It keeps my attention as I never know what the next page will bring. It’s so unique. I love the Christian theme and the unique paranormal part of it.

Phoebe Sauber is working to grow the Goldensuit plants they took from Apothecary Jack. Her friend, Keriah is working on making sedatives to stop those on the Root. Unfortunately, their friend and fellow Ramparts agent, Sep, may be dead. They haven’t seen him since he’d been shot after Maxham took Laura. Michael Colton-Jones knows he’s dying from the Root that had been forced on him.

Many other players are in these stories, including two new agents in this story: Mr. Benjamin and Mr. Norton. Looking forward to the next volume to see what happens next.

Every volume tells a story but be prepared because they end on a cliffhanger.

Sonoma Series
Book 1: Deadly Intent
Naomi Grant's family owns the Joy Luck Life Spa in Sonoma, CA. She was the head massage therapist but since her dads stroke she is in charge. When Dr. Devon Knightley comes in the spa she hopes he has come to see her. The last few years she had visited with him at the Zoe International dinners but he never called her.

When Devon said he was looking for Jessica Ortiz Naomi is deflated but not surprised he would be looking for that beauty. As Naomi searches to find Jessica her whole world shifts.

After finding a patron murdered at the spa and then attempts at Devon's life everything starts pointing towards Naomi being guilty.

The suspect and reason for the murders is well hidden through the book. And the mystery is stronger then the romance, which does not make it less at all. Your just busy deciding who the murderer is knowing that the romance will work out. Although Naomi is from a Christian family while Devon's is not, in fact his father is proud to be an atheist. Looking forward to the next book in the series Formula for Danger.
Book 2: Formula For Danger
Rachel Grant is a Dermatologist at her dad's spa, Joy Luck Life. She is the oldest of three daughters and is always pushing herself to get her dads acceptance, but always falls short.

Edward Villa has a way with exotic plants and flowers at his greenhouses and is helping her with her special basil plants that she will be launching a cream to help with scars.

Edward was thinking of Rachel in more then friend terms when she suddenly dug into her work harder, it triggered his negative feelings towards his workaholic dad and he backed away. But now Rachel was in danger and it seemed someone was out to perhaps kill her and Edwards planned on protecting her with his life.

Rachel has done all the work and research on this cream and yet someone just wants to steal it away and get the credit. They need her files first and then need Rachel dead to complete their plans.

It seems danger finds these two on every turn until they have nowhere to turn but to God, which they should have been doing the entire time.
Book 3: Stalker in The Shadows
Nurse Monica Grant wants to start a free children’s clinic. After helping a migrant workers son because they couldn’t afford a hospital visit, it has been her dream. Now that the dream is getting closer to reality she is getting threats to stop or else. By the tingling on her neck that makes her feel she’s being watched….they might be serious. But she is not a quitter and definitely not a victim. What would someone have against a clinic to help children?

Shaun O’neill is back in Sonoma, feeling like a failure. He wasn’t able to save his sister, Clare, and he failed at protecting others while he was a border patrol agent. When he happens to be near Monica when she receives “a gift” and a note from the same person who murdered his sister….he knows nothing will stop him from protecting her and from catching the killer this time.

Stalker has you searching right along with Shaun and Monica for the stalker. Camy had several shady characters to choose from and enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. The stalker also has a unique brand of “gifts” he likes to leave his intended victims. The book brings back friends and family from the first two books, Deadly Intent and Formula for Danger, the stories of Monica’s sisters; Naomi and Rachel.
Book 4: Narrow Escape
Arissa Tiong has been raising her niece for a year, not even knowing her brother was going to be a father when he was killed three years ago. Her life changes drastically once again on the day that the local gang kidnaps Charity and her. After her escape there's only one man she trusts enough to turn to. She can only pray he'll help them.

Nathan Fischer hasn't really been living the past three years. Not after a man he thought he knew and trusted had betrayed him. Nathan was left with a limp, no longer fit to be an officer and a bitterness towards God and his dead partner. Then a blast from the past comes to him for help. How can he help the beautiful Arissa when he can barely face her as he feels less than whole since the shooting?

As one finds faith...the other has lost it. Can God really be in control of their lives when every turn brings more danger? This fast moving, page turning, suspense romance will take you on twists and turns and keep you running until the end. Well, it will keep the characters on the run and if you are a visual reader like me...it will feel as if you were with them. Another great addition to the Sonoma, California series.

Book 4.1 Necessary Proof
Alex Villa had spent time in prison, he has since become a Christian and changed his ways but someone is setting him up. He is determined to clear his name and to continue fighting against the drug dealers in Sonoma.

Jane Lawton has felt alone this past year. She's tired of being used, now Alex appears at her door and needs her computer skills. And as she always does for anyone, she helps him. Who knew what danger it would bring to her doorstep? And also how much healing would come from it.

Book 4.2: Unshakeable Pursuit
Dr. Geoffrey Whelan and nurse Maylin Kinley have captured the attention of some bad guys. They have no clue how or why. Only a few warnings and face to face encounters with the thugs. One thing Geoff knows for sure is that he’ll protect this woman with all he has. He won’t fail again...like before.

As always Camy Tang writes a compelling story that has you breathless from running and dodging bullets. Your brain gets a work-out as well as you try and figure out what is happening and who is behind it. Always a great suspenseful romance from this author.
Book 5: Treacherous Intent
Liam O'Neill is a skip tracer and his job leads him to the Wings women's shelter in Sonoma. And then everything goes wrong. The woman he needs to find seems to be more than what he was told.

Elisabeth Aday is a PI, but she also works at Wings. The day Liam comes looking for Joslyn changes her life. Partly because a pack of gang members had followed him. And partly because the walls she built against not trusting men are being broken down.

As in all of Camy Tang's Sonoma Series, there isn't a moment to relax. I feel the books pull you in and set you running for your life along with the characters. Liam is a character that was introduced in earlier books and I loved his story. He battles the scars and nightmares from being in the war, and he's determined to battle them alone.
Book 6: Gone Missing
Joslyn Dimalanta's story began in the previous book,Treacherous Intent. She was hidden out at Wings, a Christian women's shelter. A much stronger woman than she was a year ago, Joslyn now works for the O'Neill Agency as she finishes school and learns to be a skip tracer. She needs to use her new skills to find her missing friend. Something she still needs to learn is that not all men are like her abusive ex-boyfriend.

Clay Ashton has made many mistakes in his past. Some of those mistakes had landed him in prison for a few years. Another of those mistakes was pushing his half sister aside when she tried to get him from working with a Chicago mob family. Now Fiona is missing and he needs to find her. To have a second chance at being a better brother.

As Clay and Joslyn work together to find Fiona, they find themselves in danger. It seems someone wants them dead. So begins their adventure to find Fiona and shake off the bad guys. Joslyn needs to put her new faith into action and trust God, while also trusting a man. This story and the others in this series are fast moving and danger is always breathing down the characters necks. Through it all, faith grows and romance blooms.

Sushi Series

Book 1: Sushi For One
Alexis Sakai's life has just taken a few unexpected turns. The biggest one is that her grandma has declared she gets a serious boyfriend or else. And yes, her grandma has the power to enforce or else. Lex finds that going against Grandma can be like trying to climb a waterfall. She does keep running into one guy but he just don't fit her list of what she wants in a man.

This story is both serious and humorous. Four cousins have become Christians and they still struggle with their new beliefs at times. This series is about these four gals and their struggles with life and family. As the next four oldest single girls they are in the sights of the family. And it's a very, very large family. I find the story to be captivating and held my attention so it was hard to put it down.

Book 1.1 is The Sushi Toss, which is a short, free read on Camy Tang's blog. The Series continues with Trish's story in Only Uni, Venus's tale in Single Sashimi and finishes with Jennifer in Weddings and Wasabi.

**Free Read**
Sushi Toss 1.1
Trish is at her cousins wedding and it's time for the bouquet toss. She does her best to hide behind a large aunt and bald uncle (using the glare off his head to help hide her.)
Seems all the single women feared this part of the wedding while all their parents were hopeful not have spinsters for daughters.
Just enough of a short story to wet your appetite for the next Sushi book, Only Uni.
Read it for free on Camy's blot or at this link on goodreads:
Book 2: Only Uni
Trish Sakai wants to show the cousins, who are also her best friends, she let down that she's serious about being a better Christian. She'll get her Divinity degree and volunteer at church more, that should do it. When things are going wrong lately she's sure it's punishment from God for her sins the past year. Changing isn't so easy though when her grandma keeps trying to get her back together with her irresistible non-Christian ex-boyfriend.

This book has some real life situations that are pretty intense and yet mixed with humor. It shows the struggle to understand forgiveness and that you can't earn it from God. And that sometimes even when we change there're consequences to our past that follow us but we must move forward, excepting God's grace.

This series starts with Sushi for One? and then book 1.1, The Sushi Toss, which is a short, free read on Camy Tang's blog. Book three is Venus's tale in Single Sashimi and finishes with Jennifer in Weddings and Wasabi. A unique series worth reading.
Book 3: Single Sashimi
Venus Chau lives a very controlled life. She works in the gaming world and being a woman is a disadvantage. When she was fat she was one of the guys or invisible. Now that she lost weight they look at her with other ideas. She just wants to get her program bug free and start her own company. Even if it means taking a job with Drake Yu and going to Grandma for help. Two things that go against everything in Venus.

I found this book to the be the most emotional. The characters are written in a way that they come to life and their trials come through the pages. The jealousy, betrayal, aggravation and trying to walk in four inch stilettos all seem to come alive. I say this in a positive way as the author has done a really good job of bringing the book to life.

Four cousins out of a large family have become Christians. The books are about their struggles within the family and in their own personal walk with God. The series starts with Sushi for One? and then book 1.1 The Sushi Toss, which is a short, free read on Camy Tang's blog. Book two is Trish's tale in Only Uni and it ends with the fourth book, Jenn's story, Weddings and Wasabi. A unique series worth reading.
Book 4: Weddings & Wasabi
Jennifer Lim, the quiet cousin. The cousin who does what she can to keep peace. Until now. Jenn has snapped and no one is going to walk over her again. She's learning to say no to the overwhelming aunty's. And she would like to say yes to the dangerous Harley riding Edward Castillo.

This is the final book in the series. A little shorter than the previous books. It ties a few things together that have been mentioned previously. Once again Camy Tang has some pretty serious issues in the book but also lines it with humor, like a goat in the backyard. As with a good series it's always a bit sad to finish the final book and say good-bye to the characters that have come to life.

Four cousins out of a large family have become Christians. The books are about their struggles within the family and in their own personal walk with God. The series starts with Sushi for One? and then book 1.1 The Sushi Toss, which is a short, free read on Camy Tang's blog. She is to be the bodyguard for a thirteen year old girl who is too computer wise and had her fingers on a computer when she shouldn’t have. His coworker might be right in suggesting he starts dating and finds the right woman to help his career. Becoming a senior partner is what’s most important in life after all, right?

Tessa is still a fairly new Christian and struggles with things like forgiveness. She has come a long ways from her old life but is still on her way to becoming a new creation and letting go of the old. Charles has some situations in his life that have him looking at his own walk with Christ.

I started reading and couldn’t put the book down. Camy Tang gives the reader a story filled with adventure and suspense. And humor as well. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

First Kisses Anthology

People who are hurt and scarred and don't think that love could be in their futures. They are wrong of course. It's a great mix of stories. Two of the stories are suspense and keep you on the edge of your seat. All six are page turners. I hope that more stories will come from these as there are some great secondary characters as well.

The Rambler's Bride by Linda Goodnight

Deadly Intent by Margaret Daley

Captain Gerard Foremont is crippled and feels like a burden to his parents. As they go to spend Christmas with some family friends, he is saddened to see the young girl he once knew treated unjustly.

Both have their own personal struggles and to add to it, some mystery person is after one of them. I loved some secondary characters while despising others.

  3. Love this interview! Any chance of seeing a werewolf show up in one of your stories? I need to get me a snack closet. I didn't know I was missing it. Good luck on running Honolulu Marathon! Keep us posted on how you do! I love reading your books. I think about your characters even after I've finished the book. I've added more of your books to my tbr pile!

  4. Hi, Camy and Judy... I enjoyed the interview. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with the Regency era, Camy, especially since you've become so adept at contemporary inspirational romance and romantic suspense. Thanks for the opportunity to participate in the give-away!

  5. OMGosh, Camy, I loved your interview! I know that look your husband had on his face because of the tears! My husband has/had the same face many times. I am excited to hear more about your Regency book, I hope you will come back and visit Judy and all of us when it is coming out! The snacks made me smile, I like that you have a closet. See you in late July....whispering hopefully! :)

    1. Thanks so much Lisa! Prelude for a Lord just released last week so I'm hoping people like it! I'm glad I'm not the only one with a confused husband. :)
