Interview with Zoe Dawson
No, I don’t bake the treats. They sound fun and are hopefully tasty for the dogs. But I don’t have a dog. I love dogs and have a granddog Rupert. I love babysitting him.
Where did you come up with the unique names for the Outlaw boys?
I wanted to make the names uniquely Southern, so I went to the Internet and looked up both Southern male names and surnames. I was so excited when I saw that Outlaw was actually a surname. Then, I knew I wanted all the names to start with the same letter. So, I made lists, but when I found Booker, that sealed the B deal. After that I found Boone which I adore, then Braxton’s name which really fits his personality to a T.
Do you ever forget that the characters are not real?
I write my books as if my characters are real. I think to get at the emotion and deep into their personality, you have to be an actor. Act out who they are. For me, character building starts with a nebulous thought about who the character is. What kind of experiences molded him or her into who that person is as a young adult or adult. Once I have that, it’s the name that gives my character realism and substance. Once I think about the character as a concrete individual, that’s when I can write that person. Get into his or her head and really make him or her come to life.
Are you sad to end a series and leave the characters behind?
So sad and so happy. Sad that I finished the series, but happy with the body of work. There is nothing as exciting as having the flash of inspiration for a series, nurture it from the first book to the last. See what I have created from nothing and the voices in my head. But the icing on the cake is that people love my stories and want more. That is the best feeling in the world.

It wasn't the first time someone tried to take her for her mind to be used for
someone else's purpose.

the exotic woman who'd gone missing. And once he met her in person...he was
determined to be her protector.
Sky
believed she had to live for the memory of her parents in her work. Vin
believed he had to do what he felt was right, not what his father wanted him to
do. Even if the two of them can dodge bullets and bad guys...can they each
reconcile their beliefs enough to be together? Loved the storyline. Could do
with less of the sex scenes.

jog along the beach, only today was foggy. Like the day when she was sixteen
and her life changed. This day, her life changed as well when she hears what

Agent Beau Jerrott was hurt by a woman once. That was all it took for him to
stick with one-night stands. While on loan to the Norfolk NCIS, his last day
brings him into contact with a beautiful redhead and a case that has him
staying out of DC a bit longer.
Kinley
and Beau end up as a team and head to the Bahamas...dragging their pasts behind
them. Great storyline, although some tough situations and outcomes. I really
enjoyed this story.

investigate a friendly fire because she's available...second-best.
When
Tristan finds his missing Marine dead...a kid that had really gotten under his
guard...it throws him off. When NCIS shows up to investigate...and the woman is
going to stay in his townhouse...it gets worse. Then the story takes quite a
turn for the ugly. Wow, what a story. It
goes deep into what evil possibly exists within some humans. The story wrapped
me up and had me turning the pages to see what happens next.

Lieutenant Dexter Kaczewski was on a mission with his SEAL team.
Something didn’t seem right...and it wasn’t. It was very wrong. Dex was
injured, but still picked rescued one of his wounded men. There would be no
rest for him, though...especially not at the hospital on the base he was on.
Injured or not, he was a SEAL, and he had people to protect.
Senator Piper Jones is finishing sitting in the seat her late-husband had held. The past eighteen months, she’d been determined to finish Brad’s term and finish what he started. And she was doing that. One more hurdle, but it was a big one.
Piper ends up in Afghanistan to see her injured brother...a trip that ends up going places she never expected. Dex and Piper need to find answers and don’t know who to trust beyond the two of them. Good story-line and characters.

Neve Michaels couldn’t believe how her life changed. She’s been off for ten weeks after an injury on her job as Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer. When she’s attacked and finds out there’s a threat to all of her family, she takes things into her own hands. Only, she can’t seem to shake loose of Russell. And maybe, in the end, that wasn’t so bad.
A page-turning adventure through the jungle of Darien Gap brings all kinds of scary situations. Excellent story-line and wonderful characters.

Special Agent Derrick Gunn had been a CIA agent. A loner. A ghost. A
spook. So working with Amber, Austin, and Kai at NCIS still had him keeping
walls around himself. Not quite a “team” player. When a petty officer is
injured and her son taken, Derrick is on the job...and he doesn't want to work
with civilian PI...she'll be too distracting in more than one way. But, not his
choice.
PI Emma St. John will not be left out when it comes to finding her nephew. She's worked in Mexico and speaks Spanish fluently. And sadly, that's where Matty was taken. To Mexico to be raised by a drug lord. Not on her life!
As always, things are never in and out and easy. Especially when in a foreign country and with drug cartels blocking your way. I really enjoyed this storyline.

on duty to protect a US Embassy, he’d met a special woman. She was married, he
had someone back home. After the embassy was attacked, they went on with their
lives. Until six years later.

probably never loved, but it gave her dad peace. She’d been arm candy and that
was about all. The young Marine had her realizing she had no passion in her
life. It took twelve years of marriage to finally realize what her life was. Nothing
of her own choices. Just a puppet.
When Austin is sent to investigate a murder of someone in
the navy, he’s surprised to find someone from his past. He was also surprised
to find he had feelings for her. And felt very protective of her until he could
find who murdered her cousin.

Dana Sorensen has to complete her mission. She feels like she failed her mom once already so she needs to complete this job. A hunky but bossy SEAL isn't going to stop her either.
This new series is starting with a bang—in more ways than one—lots of fire power and lots of hunks. I'm looking forward to the next seven stories of the rest of this team. The author did a great job of showing off their personalities like Kid Chaos, he's young and truly likes causing chaos to help the team.

Ashe “Kid Chaos” Wilder goes into the fight on full speed and full crazy and helps get the job done. He's too “pretty” for his own good. When he goes to Bolivia for a vacation...it turns into a mission.
Paige Sinclair is an undercover NCIS agent. She's working at a company that takes the guests down the dangerous mountain roads. She sticks behind the wheel of the van, where she can be in more control than flying down the mountain on two wheels.
Opposites definitely attract as Ashe's life really seems to bring chaos into everything while Paige likes things controlled. But when the sparks fly between her and Ash—she figures why not let go and have fun. After all, he's only here for a week and then she'll never see him again. Thanks to kidnappers, murderers, thieves, and whatever other nefarious crimes these people can commit...life turns very chaotic.

Wes “Cowboy” McGraw had left his home in Texas ten years before. Not even staying for his dad's funeral. After all, people would only see him as a coward...like his dad had been. His only regret—never hooking up with the unique Kia.
Kia Silverbrook had secrets. She kept them for what she thought was a good reason but somehow knew they'd probably one day come back to bite her in the behind. With their ten year reunion coming up, she never expected to see Wes. After all, he'd never come back after he left.
Two people who had liked each other in high school but never acted on it. Could there be a second chance for them or would the past devour them? Another great story to this series. And so many awesome characters who still have stories coming. I can't wait!

Thorn “Tank” Hunt has his brothers and his brotherhood. He doesn't need more than a willing woman now and then. No relationships for him. Only...the veterinarian he's been working for the military working dogs charity she has, seems to have slipped under his skin.
Dr. Alyssa St. James loves being a veterinarian, especially helping with the military working dogs. When she first meets her employee's older brother...she's not impressed. He's a hunk for sure, but not her type. And yet, she can't seem to get him out of her mind.
Have tissues handy for this one. SEAL Team Alpha gets into some danger...like always, but it hits closer to home on this one. There's the romance, but also other background situations that are connected to the main characters. Really good story line and more emotional than previous ones.

Ocean “Blue” Beckett has been taken prisoner by a sadistic couple. Even if his team can rescue him before they kill him—he's already been through so much that he'll never be the same.
Charlotte “Charlie” Coventry finds that she and Blue have much in common. Their pain. Their need for healing. But she's not a stay forever kind of gal, so she only wants to help heal him, and then go their own ways.
I liked the story line, although it was pretty tough reading the beginning where he's a prisoner. I wasn't real fond of Charlie's “hobby” as far as healing went. Even so, it is well-written and brought strong emotions out for Blue.

Book 6: Scarecrow
Arlo “Scarecrow” Porter has continued to find reasons to not go home. There was always another mission. But it was time to go back to Louisiana and visit his mom. Face the death of his dad. What he didn't expect was the woman renting from his mom. Scarecrow listened when his gut spoke...and his gut said this woman was not a chili farmer.
Scarlett Jones was looking for justice. And that search brought her to the States. To this small Southern town. She had never been so close to finding justice for her family and she's not going to let the very handsome, hunky SEAL stop her.
Scarlett does have secrets and Scarecrow is determined to get them out of her. I enjoyed the story-line, it had lots of twists and surprises. Looking forward to Wicked's story, which there were hints to what would be coming...

Orion “Wicked” Cross had been frustrated ever since the redhead has entered his territory in San Diego. They shared a past...and it wasn't a good one. Yet, they keep getting thrown together on missions. The tension gets tighter and tighter until it's ready to snap. They are going to have to deal with it...one way or another.
Kat Harrington is a deadly CIA operative. She's determined...as the Marines would say...to not leave any man behind. And she has someone from long ago to find and bring home. And now, she's found herself in quite a mess and needs rescuing. Deep down she knows Wicked will be doing the rescuing. Maybe it's time to face him and talk.
Lots of action as these folks go out to protect the world...and each other. Even if from themselves. The reader can see where Wicked and Kat have clashed at every turn in the previous books in this series... And now, it's their story. Looking forward to the next book, Hollywood's story.

He's a Navy SEAL who hasn't been the
same since he retired six months ago. He's all Willow has though. And then she
gets unexpected help.
Really
great story. Not only are the SEALs chasing down the men from previous books,
but Willow is facing several of her own challenges. And it's unique with her
father being a retired SEAL.

“Dragon” Shannon gets a blast from the past in way of a phone
call. Six years ago he had a one-night stand and the memory of that
woman stayed with him. Only now, she's calling about his mother's

“Jo” Moretti couldn't believe Ryuu was Gen's son. She'd searched
for him after their night together, but never found him. And now, he
found her. And the daughter she was never able to tell him he
fathered.
This
was fantastic. Ceri, their five-year-old genius daughter is quite a
character. The emotions run high as Dragon finds he has a
daughter...and faces the facts of the distance they'll face to stay
close. In the background, Errol “Pitbull” Ballentine's story
begins to form for the next book. Loved it!

Officer Errol “Pitbull” Ballentine has some personal and work issues. In fact,
the two are connected. While on a mission, he realizes he has to move past his
issues to be part of a stronger team.
NCIS
Special Agent Makayla “Mak” Littlestar is part of a mission with a SEAL
team...and the handsome Pitbull. She's met him before and has thought of him
often. And yet, she's kept a wall around her heart because of her past.
Only...after two of her teammates get kidnapped...she realizes that people had
gotten in under her walls after all.
Both
of them have to let go of their pasts to have a better future... And, nothing
like a dangerous mission to help them find their way. I love the secondary
characters in the story, too. Some the reader has met in previous stories...and
some are just being introduced.

“Hemingway” Sinclair, brother to Paige Wilder, Kid Chaos's wife,
is getting ready to start his BUD/S training. Thanks to Kid's SEAL

Agent Shea Palmer with NCIS spends much of her time undercover. Now,
her job is really important. A report of some terrorists that are
going to try to infiltrate the BUD/S training. And after this
mission...back to getting revenge on the man who murdered her sister.
With
Hemingway just beginning his career and Shea chasing revenge and
working undercover, finding that special person isn't good timing.
But love doesn't always have good timing. Unique and exciting story.

Another face-paced story of danger, rescue, romance.
Several new characters were introduced in this book too.

Ford “Fast Lane” Nixon, the LT of this SEALs team, is way
past angry. Zasha, a cruel and evil woman, has been out to kill him and his
team for some time now. And so far, she’s done more damage to them than they
have to her. They killed her lover, Darko, but they still have to kill her…and
soon.
Warrant Officer Solace Mitchell is a Nightstalker pilot,
and she’s had Ford on her mind since her last mission when they ran into each
other on a mission. And now, here they are together again. She realizes that
she never stopped loving her ex-husband.
What a time for these two to realize what they mean to each
other. Things have heated up…and not just between them…and the bullets are
flying. If the team can get through this clash with Zasha, they’ll all have a
new outlook on life. Great ending to this series.

Poe Madigan judged her men in an unusual way. Were they bacon worthy? Would they be Zombie killers or Zombie food? She tended to date the more brainy guys who were more likely food than killers. When her partner for the Fur Ball had to back out he was replaced with a definite bacon worthy Zombie killer type. It didn’t take long for the hunky Texas and his adorable basset to work his way into her heart and home.
Jared Taylor felt he owed his life to the man who rescued him when they were in the war overseas. So when his sister asked him for a favor he didn’t hesitate to say yes. To enter a dance contest with her friend so that he could be her bodyguard without her knowing it. Seems he needed some shields of his own to protect him against this unique woman he was protecting. And when she found out he hadn’t been completely honest with her would there be any hope for a future?
This series is about four friends who met at a dog park. Poe’s two dogs are known as The Terrible Twosome. Two Jack Russell terriers who are a bit too smart and busy for their own or anyone else’s good. Callie and Brooke’s stories were told in the first two books; Leashed and Groomed for Murder. Caleb Shaw feels run over and old already. Recovering from a gunshot wound he's called in for a special case. A socialite’s dog collar was stolen. He knew all about the rich princesses world after learning a lesson early on as a young man. So he headed right into this case with his preconceived ideas and dislike. Harper Sinclair unfortunately didn't fit into his tidy little box.
I really enjoy these stories. They have a serious edge at times, a very hot romantic side and then there's the humorous parts. The dogs manage to get into mischievous situations, especially in this story. Along with other funny antics that put a tough cop in some pretty humbling situations.

Ian Lassiter, Cassie's, from Leashed, brother, has declared himself a bachelor for life. He's not a “meet the parents” type guy and the women he dates know where he stands. When he needs to meet with a new client for a grant, he is drawn to her. But she's not his usual type of gal.
Elizabeth “Lizzie” O'Reilly is in trouble. The man she thought she would marry isn't the man she thought he was. At all. She thought he saved her by buying part of her building a few years ago but now he either wants her to buy him out...or sell the building. A building that has her home, her art school for the deaf, and has been in her family for years. And he's playing dirty.
The four couples from Going to the dogs are back along with the men from AlphaGroup. A group of successful men who give grants to those who need it. This grant was special as one of the men from the group had just passed away in a plane crash six weeks ago, Calder, had a brother who was deaf. Looking forward to the next story in this series. It was great seeing “old friends” again.

Nate Taylor has never really gotten over being dumped almost two years ago. No one he dated seemed to be equal to that one woman. He continued his fight to get over her as it was past time. And then suddenly she's there, back in his life—through the AlphaGroup anyways.
Prudence Chambers had made a deal with the devil—okay, with Attila the Hun—fine, she made a deal with Harper Sinclair Shaw. Same thing. Prudence would get recognition for photographing the Harper's wedding and all she had to do in return was give Nate Taylor a second chance.
The dog park babes and their guys are back along with the men from the AlphaGroup. Ian has found his true love...and now, hopefully, Nate will. These tough guys become pretty weak when it comes to the women in their lives. Looking forward to the rest of the stories in this series.

Talia Cassano was a nurse, but her true dream was to open a flower shop. And then there was her unspoken and unattainable dream—Dr. Gorgeous. Only her best friend and fellow RN, Poppy Bright knew about that one. Ha! Getting the man who she considered James Bond...Bond Girls included...to even notice her. Not likely.
Loved the story as always. It includes some of the previous characters in the Alpha Series and Going to the Dogs, which I always enjoy. Cute puppies and dogs and plenty of issues on the road to romance.

Aiden Sinclair; billionaire, eligible bachelor, screwed up mess. When Aiden returned home from the war—he took it with him.
