Interview with Margaret Daley
When not writing, what hobbies do you enjoy?
When not writing, I love to read, especially suspense and adventure stories.

When did you start writing?
I started writing in 1978 and sold my first book in 1980.

What is your favorite genre?
Romantic suspense

Have you traveled to do research for your books?
Yes, I like to see a place if I can. For instance, I've written several books taking place in a jungle. I have visited two of them to get the feel of what one was like. Also in Dangerous Interlude, some of what happened to Anna at the first of the story happened to me when I visited Salzburg, Austria.

Favorite book or character you have written?
There are several books I've felt are books of my heart—Heart of the Amazon, Shattered Silence, Saving Hope and Severed Trust.

Any advice for those who are just starting out?
Keep writing. I sold 20 books then went through an eight-year dry spell before going on to sell over 70 more books.
Daring Escapes Series
Book 1: Into the Darkness
Book 2: Into the  Fire
Book 3: Into the Fray

Guerrero, AKA Rafael Stanford, had everything he loved taken away from him three years ago and has been on a hunt for revenge since then. When a woman came to him for help, he didn't want to help her. Then realized that he might finally get his answers if he did.

Dr. Tory Winters needed Guerrero to help protect their dig site. He was her last chance. Someone was stealing from their site and scaring the natives she had working to help her...chasing them away.

Tory had no idea how dark and deep it went, as far as her artifact finds. She saw where this would get her recognized in the archaeology world...but, she missed that someone behind the scenes was greedy. So greedy that they wanted the artifacts at any cost...even human lives. Another well-told story with wonderful characters.

Everyday Heroes Series
Book 1: Hunted
Luke Michaels life had changed drastically once. It was about to change again. What started as a few days of R&R on a camping trip turned into a rescue mission when his dog, Shep, alerted him of danger.

Megan Witherspoon had a normal life. Definitely leaning on the dull side. That all changed when she found herself in danger—and with no memory of why. Not knowing where to go or who to trust...she found herself depending on a total stranger.

As always, Margaret Daley has written another great suspense story with romance. I always enjoy a suspense that has me guessing who the bad guy is and being surprised in the end. Looking forward to more in this series.
Book 2: Obsessed
Serena Remington started her life over in a new town—a new state—with only her poodle for company. To escape a stalker. No one knows she used to have a different name. That her story isn't really her story. For three years she's lived quietly, and when odd things start happening, she keeps pushing back the idea that she's been found. Luckily, her new neighbor and his huge dog are there to help keep her fears at bay.

Quinn Taylor had left his hometown years ago. Ran away, actually. But it was time to come home and the job at Firehouse 14 is perfect. They want him as a firefighter and arson investigator along with his dog, who is trained to help him. It's a real plus that after only a few days back he meets his new neighbor and really connects with her.

Serena has kept her secret to herself, but when things keep getting closer to home—she may have to trust Quinn with the truth. All of it. Great story. Loved the dogs, as background characters they stole the show at times. And as always, the author wrote a great suspense that gives you plenty of suspects without giving away who the villain is.
Book 3: Trapped
Sadie Williams has just moved back to Colorado when she gets a call from her twin sister, Katie. Sadie knows something is wrong and calls their neighbor to check on her sister. Not only a neighbor...the man who had Sadie leaving her hometown to start with. A man she didn't plan on seeing ever again. A man she's been convincing herself she doesn't love.

Brock Carrington came back from the war a broken man. Not a “whole” man like Sadie deserved. With the help of his service dog, Bella, and the men in the PTSD group he leads, he's much better than four years ago. Much better than when he sent Sadie out of his life.

As always, Margaret Daley writes an intriguing suspense romance that keeps you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages to see what happens next. And the service dogs ad such a cuddly aspect to the stories too.
Book 4: Kidnapped
Colby Parker has finally returned home to Cimarron City, Oklahoma after leaving twelve years ago. Good thing, as Nana's neighbor needs his help. And that is something he and his dog, Duke, can do...being an officer with a trained canine.

Beth Sherman had no sense of choosing men, obviously. She had dated someone and after breaking up with him...he retaliated against her like a spoiled child. But all had been well...until now.

His first week on the police force and everything is happening. Being he's a canine officer with a bomb-sniffing dog, Colby's needed. And yet, he's determined to protect Beth. He failed before; he can't fail again. Love this series. Each book is stand-alone but every one is worth reading.
Book 5: Stolen
Detective Nick Davidson's new case quickly expands to feeling protective of a little family. Time is crucial to find out what is going on...and what, if any of it, is connected.

Dr. Sarah Collins is a widow with a young daughter. When one of her clients is murdered, it doesn't end there. It seems the woman's little girl and Sarah are being targeted as well.

These books are all stand-alone, but all worth reading. Great suspense stories that keep you guessing who the villain is. There is also a romance budding, but it has to wait until life settles down and the danger passes. Great characters and storyline.
Book 6: Missing
Brody Taylor, found of Pals Center, is doing his best to help the kids in his town. And now, he needs to keep them safe. Young teens have gone missing. He fears what could be going on and time is short to find them.

Dr. Emma Reichs is a child psychologist. She's been helping out at Pals Center for about six months and when one troubled girl doesn't show up for their group meeting...Emma knows something is wrong. And she's not going to give up until she gets her back safely.

A very good story but intense being we know things like this really happen. Children taken from their homes for nefarious reasons. Excellent series and stories.
Strong Women, Extraordinary Situations Series
First three books in this series in one boxed set
Book 1: Deadly Hunt
Tess Miller is a bodyguard and she cherishes her time at her uncle's cabin twice a year. Time alone. This trip isn't going quite as she planned when a man who's been shot makes it to her cabin's door. And she's his only help since they are a long walk from anywhere.

Shane Burkhart was just enjoying some time in the mountains, hiking and photographing. Next thing he knows he wakes up in a cabin being tended by a woman. He's been shot. Worse might not have been an accident.
Book 2: Deadly Intent
Texas Ranger Sarah Osborn has a new case working with an old love. A man who broke her teenage heart fifteen years ago. If she doesn’t find out who is after Ian O’Leary, she could lose him a second time. Permanently.

Ian is a former FBI agent with plenty of men who might want to do him harm. The list of suspects is plenty long and most look pretty guilty. Margaret Daley does a great job of keeping the reader guessing which suspect is the villain.
Book 3: Deadly Holiday
Tory Caldwell moved to a small town after her husbands death. Just as she was getting her life together and her son was settling in, she witnessed a hit-and-run accident. Who knew witnessing this event would change her life so drastically?

Jordan Steele was working through his survivors guilt and memories from war. When his neighbor needed help, he jumped in to help. It was good to get his mind off of his problems for a while.

As always Margaret Daley does a fantastic with this suspense romance. The story keeps you on your toes while trying to figure out who is good and who is bad. Amidst the suspense of course...romance blooms.
Book 4: Deadly Countdown
Book 5: Deadly Noel
Kira Davis is the county assistant district attorney in her hometown. Last year her best friend was murdered and everything pointed to one man. Only they were wrong. Now she lives with the guilt of convicting the wrong man...and the fact that a murderer is still on the loose.

Gabriel Michaels is home again. He spent eight months away from his daughter because no one would believe him. No one would even listen to his side of the story. And even though he's out of jail, he still battles those who continue to think of him as a guilty man.

The last thing Gabriel wants to do is help Kira find the real murderer. Then he realizes no one is safe until that person is caught. Not his daughter, his sister...and not even Kira. As always, Margaret Daley has written a great story that keeps you guessing which character is guilty.
Book 6: Deadly Dose
Jessie Michaels has had a rough year. The town she lives in, Pinecrest, Oklahoma, has had too much happening. Murders. Her brother had been falsley accused but thankfully is home and will be getting married in a few weeks. But her best friend's murder is still unsolved. And once Jessie finds a clue to Mary Lou's murder—her life is thrown into mayhem once again.

Josh Morgan's life has been in upheaval as well. The death of his sister, his mother's manipulating ways, and having to reevaluate his own life after something Jessie had told him while they were in Florida. Can the Michaels and Morgan's put their past behind them and start over?

No rest for the folks in Pinecrest. There seems to be a drug ring stirring things up and messing up lives. One a time for a romance to start—when there are bad guys to find and put a stop to. The reader can first meet Jessie and Josh in the fifth book of this series; Deadly Noel. This is Gabriel's, Jessie's brother, story. Another great suspence story with a warm side of romance.
The Inheritance Series - Book 7: Deadly Legacy
Lacey St. John felt truly blessed. After her husband's death three years ago, she'd been living in unsavory areas of New Orleans. Working extra jobs to make a better life for her and her son. Then out of nowhere, she finds out she has inherited the home she grew up in—which Mr. Hopewell had turned into a bed and breakfast.

Sheriff Ryan McNeil usually had a pretty quiet job, until now. Between burglaries in the area and a death—his deputies and himself were kept busy. Too busy, as he wanted to get to know his new neighbor better.

Life wasn't quite as wonderful as Lacey had hoped it to be. But as her handsome neighbor reminded her, the Lord is in control. This book is part of a multi-author collection where each story starts with the characters receiving some type of inheritance from the billionaire, Mr. Hopewell. Great romance story with a heaping side of suspense.
Book 8: Deadly Night, Silent Night
In boxed set of Candy Cane Kisses
Rebecca Howard is still trying to please her father, even though he's been dead for six years now. Running their stores like he wanted them, wondering if she was doing it right, the store taking up every bit of her time. When someone starts sabotaging them, she starts looking at her life differently.

Detective Alex Kincaid is determined to find the person or persons hurting his childhood friends, Clint and Rebecca. In spending so much time helping Rebecca, the old feelings he had tried to bury most of his life came forward. He cared for her and always had. But for now, he needed to protect her.

As always, Margaret Daley writes a page turner suspense story with a romance trying to bloom on the sidelines. Plenty of pointing fingers at those who could be guilty—but not giving it away until the end. This story takes place in Alaska, so bundle up and enjoy.
Book 9: Deadly Fires
Alexia Richards has always tried to please her father. Be the son he always wanted. She failed him in the past and she's failing him now as bad things are happening to their rodeo company while she's in charge.

Cole Knight is working for his cousins investigations agency. Trying to get used to civilian life after his years in the army and all he'd seen there. And there was the past he messed up. Only six months back and he's being thrown into the past when he's sent to help Alexia.

Margaret Daley weaves great mysteries. I thought I had this one all figured out...I didn't. This is a book is also part of a ten book Rodeo Knights series. Individual books by ten authors that all connect in some way to the Knight brothers. Their stories are told in the first three original Rodeo Knight books by Margaret, Lisa Mondello, and Lenora Worth.
Book 10: Deadly Secrets
Sarah St. John left home fifteen years ago...left the day she was supposed to get married. She ran and took her secret with her. Her niece is getting married and so after all this time, Sarah has returned. With a fresh crime in their town, Sarah needs to help the police, as she's an FBI profiler. That includes working with the man she walked away from.

Detective Hunter Davis never understood while he was left alone at the altar. The last thing he wants to do is work closely with Sarah. But they have a criminal to find—and soon.

These stories are such page turners. I usually have someone guilty and thrown in jail...just to find out the person wasn't the bad guy. I love a story that doesn't give away “who done it” easily.
Multi-author series
Rodeo Knights
Book 1: Her Knight, Her Protector by Lisa Mondello
Book 2: The Knight and the Damsel by Margaret Daley
Bella Rosenthal never thought that having old Betsy, her truck, break down could be a good thing. But when a Knight comes to her rescue, he keeps watch over her longer than needed.

Michael Knight has come to help his brother find out who's sabotaging the rodeo stock. When he meets Bella, a damsel in distress, he figures staying close to her can help him find the bad guys. At least that's what he's telling himself is the reason he wants to stay close to her.

I just loved this story. Romance blooming amongst suspense. This is a series of three books by three authors. Book one is Her Knight, Her Protector by Lisa Mondello and the story is about Michael's brother Jesse. The third book is called One Knight in Vegas by Lenora Worth and the story is about their youngest brother Sean.
Book 3: One Knight in Vegas by Lenora Worth
Deadly Race
A romp through a snake-infested, vine-twisted terrain isn't exactly Ellie Winter's idea of fun. She hates animals that slither and the vines wreak havoc on her body. The one redeeming feature of her latest adventure--and she must admit she hasn't been on one quite so dangerous--is Slade Calvert. He makes her heart beat faster. He makes her forget that she doesn't trust men easily.
 Second Chances Series
Book 1: Love Gone to the Dogs

Leah and Shane clash over their dogs that clearly like each other. Leah is determined to ignore her neighbor, but when her youngest son who tries to defy gravity and fly ends up hurt, it is her neighbor, the doctor, who takes care of her son. Can Leah and Shane find love or has love gone to the dogs?
Book 2: Yours, Mine & Ours
The last thing Tess Morgan, divorced mother of three rambunctious kids, needs is a speeding ticket--especially not one delivered by sexy Officer Zachariah Smith. Not only is he ridiculously overbearing, but handsome enough to tempt her to forget her vow to steer clear of all men!

Too bad for her, the widowed cop has other plans. Zach, a single parent himself, knows all too well what it's like being alone, and he's had enough. Will his determination to forge better lives for both of their families be enough to overcome past pains?
Book 3: Love Triumphs

Alex Stone has no desire to fall in love again after his wife died, leaving him and his mischievous little daughter alone to go on in spite of their pain. But when he meets his sexy new tenant in the cabin on his ranch, his resolve to remain single is tested.
Book 4: Captive Hearts
When Kate Remington’s two friends mistakenly "kidnap" the wrong guy, Nick Mackenzie, instead of Kate’s work stressed brother who needs to help her with a book they are co-authoring, Kate is trapped on an island with Nick for one, long week. And the last person Nick wants to be with is a Remington. Kate’s father has given Nick one week to raise the money necessary to buy out his partner or Remington Publications will.
The Protectors Series
Book 1: Dangerous Pursuit
Reading about danger never prepared Samantha Prince for the desperate phone call from her brother in Brazil that sent her from the safety of her New Orleans bookstore into the rugged, inhospitable Amazon in search of him and a hidden treasure. And reading about romance never prepared Samantha to resist the mysterious appeal of Brock Slader, a guide she hired to help her in her quest.

Alone with Brock in an alien world of orchids and anacondas, primitive headhunters and very up-to-date gunmen, she struggles to keep their relationship strictly business. Will Samantha survive the dangers in the jungle only to have her heart broken by a man who lives on the edge—no strings attached?
Book 2: Dangerous Interlude

Anna finds it hard to resist Mark’s charm, but she doesn’t know who to trust. Is Mark friend or foe?
The Men of the Texas Rangers Series
Abingdon Press
Book 1: Saving Hope
Kate Winslow ran a home for girls who were taken out of prostitution, Beacon of Hope. She failed a friend once when she could not help her but she would give her all for these girls. When they find one of their vans and girls missing it starts a chain of events that eventually brings Wyatt Sheridan into Kate's life. Kate will stop at nothing to find Rose, a fifteen year old who truly wanted a new life and put anyone who needed help before herself. Which is most likely the reason she is now missing.

Wyatt was working on a team to break up a child prostitution ring. Things seem to fit together when something his team finds fits with a missing girl from Beacon of Hope. What Wyatt did not expect was to feel anything for a woman, after his wife's murder he didn't believe he'd ever love again but something about Kate tugged on the armor around him. Wyatt also has to deal with his fourteen year old daughter who wants to test her wings in a world that Wyatt knows is full of danger.

There are so many different things that happen in this book. Even though it's fiction it gives you a look into a world that is not fiction—child prostitution-- either runaways or others who are lured into it. A look into the life a lawmen and that things don't just fall together for them, especially when people fear for their lives. And how easily a charmer can fool a girl or woman by sweet talking and compliments. I personally enjoyed this book and will look forward to reading this series.

Book 2: Shattered Silence
Texas Ranger Cody Jackson has just moved to Durango, Texas from Houston. After the death of his ex-wife he now has full custody of his fifteen year old son, Kyle. Instead of moving to the quiet town he imagined….he has a murder to solve within hours of his arrival. And it only escalates from there.

Police Detective Liliana Rodriguez will do all she can do to protect the people of Durango but especially her family. She demands control in her life because she didn’t have any growing up with an abusive father. Because of her father she never wanted to trust a man to have any control in her life….and then she met Cody Jackson.

The first book in this series is Saving Hope, excellent book. Even though they are a series they can definitely be read as stand alone books. Shattered Silence is full of individual stories. Cody trying to be the father that Kyle needs. Kyle's step-dad was prejudice to the extreme and taught Kyle his beliefs. Bullies and the damage they can cause….no matter what age. And of course the murders. Margaret does a great job of keeping the reader guessing who the villain is by throwing in several guilty looking suspects. Never a dull moment.

Book 3: Scorned Justice
Texas Ranger Brody Calhoun is with his parents in west Texas when an unexpected attack injures the brother of Rebecca Morgan, Brody’s high school sweetheart. The local sheriff, a good friend, asks for Brody’s help. At first, it seems like an open-and-shut case. As Brody digs deeper, he realizes the attack may be related to an organized crime trial Rebecca will be overseeing. With Rebecca’s help, he compiles evidence involving cattle rustling, bribery, and dirty payoffs that shatter the entire community and put Rebecca directly in the line of fire. Brody expects to protect her. What he never expects is to fall for Rebecca all over again, or for a murder to throw the case wide open. Is Brody’s faith strong enough to withstand not only deep-rooted corruption and cattle rustling, but also love?
Book 4: Severed Trust
Texas Ranger Ethan Stone has recently moved back to his hometown. Things are not right there. After the death of a high school student things quickly turn worse. Heading up the investigation with his old friend Cord Thompson, who is the chief of police, they find themselves buried in the investigation while trying to protect those they love.

Sadie Thompson also recently returned to town. After choosing to marry a man her father disapproved of, she left. So did her new husband after the twins were born. Now she finds herself as a teacher in the local high school in the middle of a prescription drug ring and her ex has returned wanting to be part of her twins lives, thirteen years late. Not the best time for her young girls crush to make a reappearance.

This story pulled me in from the start and held on to the end. It gave insight to several of the characters points of view. There was definitely romance, put on the back burner while real life took over. This series is so well written and hard hitting. Truths of what is going on in everyday life. Starting with Saving Hope that deals with child prostitution rings, then Shattered Silence dealing with bullies among other topics and book three is Scorned Justice which deals with an organized crime ring.
