Love Inspired & Christian Fiction Books

Trailer for First Kisses
Amazon    Smashwords
First Kisses Anthology
Six popular authors have pulled their talents together and wrote these six stories. Each story stands alone, not connected to the other authors. Romances from the 1800's to the present day. People who are hurt and scarred and don't think that love could be in their futures. They are wrong of course. It's a great mix of stories. Two of the stories are suspense and keep you on the edge of your seat. All six are page turners. I hope that more stories will come from these as there are some great secondary characters as well.

The Rambler's Bride by Linda Goodnight
Jericho North has traveled over a hundred miles to reach his brother's homestead. Each mile that passed he hated the woman more who had tricked his brother into marriage and caused his death. He was going for revenge. Only it seems God has something else in mind.

Esther North is doing the best she can without a man around. Dealing with her cousin's powerful husband and keeping up with the farm. When the dark handsome stranger appears and helps her, she starts to hope. But will he stick around or just pass through?
Lovebirds at the Heartbreak Cafe by Janet Tronstad

Then he met Penny Rose and her brood. At first they scared him, and then intrigued him. Especially the way the young woman lived out her faith so strongly that he was learning more about God through her actions.
Her Mule Hollow Cowboy by Debra Clopton Parks
Maddie Rose was determined to work as hard as her male partners on the ranch that was willed to them all. She finally had a place to belong. Putting her past behind her and deciding if she couldn't have her dream, at least she had this.

Cliff Masterson thought he was living the dream being on the bull riding circuit. Now that his dad died, he stopped to realize maybe he'd been running all these years. When he went to stay with his brother Rafe and look for land in Mule Hollow, he never expected to find someone that could fill the empty hole in him, even if she was a stubborn spit-fire of a woman.
Deadly Hunt by Margaret Daley
Tess Miller is a bodyguard and she cherishes her time at her uncle's cabin twice a year. Time alone. This trip isn't going quite as she planned when a man who's been shot makes it to her cabin's door. And she's his only help since they are a long walk from anywhere.

Shane Burkhart was just enjoying some time in the mountains, hiking and photographing. Next thing he knows he wakes up in a cabin being tended by a woman. He's been shot. Worse might not have been an accident.
Necessary Proof by Camy Tang

Jane Lawton has felt alone this past year. She's tired of being used, now Alex appears at her door and needs her computer skills. And as she always does for anyone, she helps him. Who knew what danger it would bring to her doorstep? And also how much healing would come from it.
Kissed by a Cowboy by Lacy Williams
Haley Carston had been moved from one place to the next. Then her aunt invited her to stay and finish high school. She was finally home and had friends. And gave her heart away for the first time. Until it all fell apart. Her aunt's health has brought her back to town.

Highland Hearts
Logan McAllister has returned to Scotland from the Americas to claim his bride. Five long years ago her father sent him off to be an indentured servant to prove he loved Sheena Montgomery and wasn’t just after her money. The problem was that he had to promise not to tell Sheena why he was leaving. He survived the hard work and sea travel. If he can’t win Sheena back, his heart may not survive.

Sheena can’t believe that Logan has returned to Scotland after she begged him not to leave in the first place. And his bad timing includes her being betrothed to a stranger and a wedding that is planned in a mere two weeks. Not that she would take Logan back even if she wasn’t betrothed because she don’t trust that he wouldn’t just take off and leave her again. Can a missing heirloom with a mysterious letter hidden in it bring their two hearts together again?

An enjoyable read accept that I wanted to jump into the book to pummel a couple of the women, Eva definitely did a good job or writing realistic characters. She also did well in describing their homes and showing how those who had less seemed so much more content than those who had more. Plenty of adventure and romance as well.
Mandy Goff

Book 1: The Blackmailed Bride
This is an excellent book. If you like regency books this is very good and from the Christian perspective.
Mandy has characters who are rakes or accused of being rakes, White's is mentioned, there are balls and musicales.

Lady Olivia is hiding the fact that she found her mother dead with a suicide note, she had rearranged the room so the story would look like an intruder broke in. She hid the truth from all, even her only brother Marcus.

Nick was Marcus's best friend. He was helping watch over Olivia after Marcus found the disreputable Finley wanted to marry her. Finley had been a neighbor and a close friend to Olivia. She had no loving feelings towards him but enjoyed his friendship. Now she seen a different side to her friend. When she refused his proposal he threatened her with blackmail. If it was known of Mother's suicide then it would hurt Marcus in society.

Through out the book are mostly situations caused by Olivia not willing to share the truth with her brother and Nick. And she is also estranged from God because of her hiding the truth and the bitterness of her parents dying.

Book 2: Engaging the Earl
To help her destitute parents, Emma Mercer must marry very well. And very soon. Love is irrelevant. Only security matters..doesn't it? Aided by her friend Olivia—and Olivia's brother Marcus, Earl of Westin—Emma quickly gains society's notice. But Marcus himself, the only man whose company Emma truly enjoys, seems oblivious to her charms.

With his finances in jeopardy, Marcus knows he can't be the wealthy groom Emma needs. Instead, he'll see her properly engaged to the right man..and break his own heart.

Yet Emma's determination and Marcus's resolve may be no match for love, faith—and a scheming sister determined to end Emma's husband hunt right at Marcus's side.

Texas Twins Series
Book 2: Mirror Image Bride
Maddie Wallace has been living at the Colby Ranch since meeting her twin sister, Violet Colby, a few short weeks earlier. She may be a city girl but she’s quickly learning to love the peace, quiet and even the smells of the country here in Grasslands, Texas. Her new challenge is to be the best nanny for young Darcy that she can be. Or is the challenge to get to know the handsome father, Ty Garland?

Ty has been working for the Colby’s for eight years now. He once had dreams of owning his own spread but they died along with his marriage to Brittany. When out of nowhere he finds that his ex-wife is dead and she left a daughter behind, his daughter, life changes in the blink of an eye. When Violet offers her sister to watch Darcy all he can see is Brittany all over. Someone wearing dress pants and open toed shoes on a ranch. Not someone who would be staying around long. First impressions can be very misleading though as Ty finds out.

We get to revisit with Violet and Landon from Her Surprise Sister and get small glimpses of Jack Colby who we learn more about in book 3: Carbon Copy Cowboy. Belle Colby is still in a coma and Brian Wallace is still MIA on a mission trip. An exciting series so far with four more books to follow. I always enjoy these Love Inspired multi-author series and it’s very impressive how six different authors can come together and each of their individual books connect into one great story.
Rocky Point Series
Book 1: The Family Next Door
Joe Kinkaid was a widower and an overprotective father to his daughter, Jenny. Joe believed his deceased wife wanted the big city lights so when he saw his new neighbor he put her in the same category. He was attracted to Gillian Parker but knew someone like her would probably sell the house and head back to Las Vegas. After a fire at her home where Joe burned his hands , keeping the pretty lady at a distance was not working so well.

Gillian's father had left when she was eight and never returned and her mom died, she never knew she still had one relative. She couldn't believe when she heard she inherited a home from her Great-grandmother, Sophie Parker. And why hadn't she ever tried to contact her? She had all the information on how to find her and yet not even one letter. Gillian fell in love with Rocky Point, Maine, the people and especially her neighbor girl and perhaps Jenny's father as well? And her father, who had left twenty years ago, reappears to claim the inheritance promised to her.

Between the mayhem someone is reeking around Joe and Gillian, Zach Kinkaid returning after ten years of being in Europe, and young Jenny just wanting to do the things her friends do...a great story comes out. Don't miss the next two books in this series as well, Rocky Point Reunion is Zach's story and Rocky Point Promise is the third book that was just released 2/1/2012.

 Book 2: Rocky Point Reunion
Zack Kincaid had a dream and it was not going to come true in the small town of Rocky Point, Maine. He receives a phone call that is dream could come true, too bad he had to leave the night before his wedding to Marcie Winter. Now ten years later he's back in Rocky Point to help his brother. He found his dream was lacking all these years without Marcie in his life, could he get her forgiveness and a second chance?

Marcie was happy never to leave her small home town. She bought a cafe and had a good life. So what if the hope of marriage and children would never happen, she just never met someone to replace Zack. Now he's back in town but she knows that Rocky Point can't replace all the glamor and lights of the big cities he's used to. She just has to hold onto her heart until he leaves again, and he will leave again.

The first book is The Family Next Door and that story is about Zack's brother, Joe. They are stand alone books but if you enjoy series you may want to start there. The third book is called Rocky Point Promise.

These three books look to be the first for Love Inspired but Barbara McMahon has been a familiar name with over 80 books published through Harlequin. For the complete listing of her books check out fictiondb.

Book 3: Rocky Point Promise
Sheriff Tate Johnson couldn't wait to leave the sleepy town of Rocky Point, Maine when he hit eighteen. After college, marriage and working as a cop in Boston he didn't think he'd return. Then his wife Mandy died and his dad had a stroke, so he returned home. He was fine in his single state and had no plans of remarriage, until he saved a boy from drowning and met the new nurse.

Faith Steward enjoyed her new quiet life as a nurse in the clinic compared to her busy life she left behind in Portland. And everyone hovering over her. She was engaged to be married but when her life suddenly hit a bump in the road...her fiance hit the road as well. Besides her boss in Rocky Point, nobody knew her past and she wanted to keep it that way. Her quiet life changed the day Tate was brought in with a bloody head and again later when she takes in a mother dog with four newborn puppies. Can Faith begin to hope for things she gave up when she left Portland?

As every good book we have a villain that we can dislike, cute critters that make you want to find one to cuddle, situations that make you laugh and some that make you cry. The books in this series are stand alone but reading the first two help put together who everyone is, I personally enjoy revisiting the people in places in previous books.

Hope Speaks Series
He Knows Your Name
Cassandra Parker is like a lost little girl. Her father had left when she was young and her mom wasn't quite the motherly type. And now she has been dumped by a man she thought might want her. She has always been taught that God didn't want people like her, so she's not sure how to act when a co-worker invites her to a church activity. Cass soon learns she was wrong about a great number of things.

This book is mostly written around Cass and her life issues, but other characters are pulled in around her as well. She works with three women; Lauren the pastors wife, Shelby who is a younger woman who struggles with gossip and Caroline. Caroline has her own book of issues that she's been dragging around and Cass becomes her target for everything that has gone wrong in her life.

If you get emotional while reading...definitely keep a box of tissues nearby for this one. Cass goes through many situations as do some of the others. The author has created lifelike characters that pull you, and your emotions, right into the story with them. There are some tough life issues they work through. I like the way that one thing that happens could devastate Cass and instead she uses it as a lifesaver, something to finally ground her. The issues also open a door for Lauren to show her new friend God's love. Looking forward to the next two books that will be coming in this series.
C.J. Chase

Book 1: Redeeming the Rogue by C.J. Chase
This book takes place a year after the war of 1812. It is full of interesting characters like Nicky the young street urchin and Lady Caroline, crabby and staid butlers and housekeepers. C.J. Chase has plenty of twists and turns to keep you wondering what lies around the next corner. Murder and mistrust, even among brothers who were once close.

Mattie Fraser failed. She promised to take care of her brother when her mother died. She was eight and George was six. Their father turned to drinking and George turned to thieving. Three years ago George had been impressed onto a British ship and now that the war was over Mattie went to England to find out what happened to George. And with a pistol in her pocket she plans on bringing justice if her brother is dead.

Kit De Chambelle was trying to hush his demons with drink. It was not working. He had worked ten years in espionage and now with the war over he had to live with all the bloody images of his past. When a young woman comes seeking help to find closure about her brother it opens up secrets, deadly ones. And then he is told to use her to find answers, just like a year ago and that had ended badly.
Book 2: The Reluctant Earl
It’s the end of1816 in Somerset, England where we meet the new Earl of Chambelston, Julian DeChambelle. He had been in the navy since age thirteen and understood the sea and ships, he didn’t plan on losing his older brother and father and gaining the title. Along with having lands and tenants to care for he also has his mother and his very special sister, Carolyn. More troubling was that he finds out his father’s death may not have been an accident at all, but murder.

Leah Vance has been Lady Teresa’s governess for eight years now. That time would soon be coming to an end as her charge was now eighteen. Leah has a responsibility on her shoulders that takes more money than she earns but thanks to her cousin Alec, she has found a way to make a bit of money on the side. All was well until the estranged brother to her employer comes to Rowan Abbey.

This story contains intrigue, suspense, danger and romance. Suspicions abounded from one person to the next, each having reasons for malicious acts. The author keeps the reader guessing as to who is guilty. It’s also a book that restores lost faith and trust. There are characters who have special needs that the world looks down upon but the book brings out that they too are real people who deserve love and kindness. A really good paced read that brings out the emotions as well. The first book is Redeeming the Rogue, about Julian’s brother, Kit. The books are stand alone but if you enjoy series, you may want to read that one first.

Kathryn Springer
Texas Twins Series
Book 5: The Soldier's Newfound Family
Carter Wallace, the youngest and only one who isn’t Belle’s blood, has returned from overseas. He carried a lot more than his US Marines duffel home with him, he had a load-full of guilt. Even though he may have saved three men, he wasn’t able to save his best friend, Rob. He had promised him to check on Savanna when he returned to Texas. He would do what he could to help his friend’s widow. And face all the changes in his family. A family he never felt very close to.

Savanna Blackmore was in quite a situation. Widowed, being evicted and now told by her doctor that the baby she carried was fine but she needed to be off her feet more. Her only option was to take up the offer from Carter, to go stay at his sister’s ranch in Grasslands. She could get use to going from her lonely life to this boisterous family but she couldn’t intrude for long with all their own family issues going on. And if she was around Carter much longer she might fall for him. Or was it already too late for that?

This has been such an exciting series. Each of the five authors so far has added so much to each of their characters and the story. I’m sure that Jillian Hart will pull it all together in Reunited for the Holidays. We have a mysterious church secretary, Bibles and apology notes popping up, missing dad, comatose mom and cute kids and critters. I would advise to start with book one in this series so you get the full picture from the beginning. It has really built up a great mystery for this last book to bring out.
Rocky Mountain Heirs Series
Book 6: The Prodigal's Christmas Reunion
A great finale to a the series. Kathryn pulls everything together and ties up all the loose ends for the Clayton clan. We find out who is behind trying to get the grandchildren of George Clayton Sr. to fail so they don't get the inheritance, who Macy's father is, if Jasmine and Cade survive all the naysayers and marry or not. And best of all, we get to learn about the last and final grandson, Lucas.

Lucas had left Clayton, Colorado seven years ago. He left his secret love behind as well. A girl he dated but never let anyone know since he was afraid his reputation would hurt her.
Instead he hurt her by leaving town and never looking back. He has returned but just long enough to meet the requirements for the will and he has not returned alone. Four year old Max Cahill was orphaned after his father was murdered, Scott had lived long enough to ask Lucas to take care of Max. Lucas felt inadequate for the job of a father and everything else. He could never live up to his own dad's standards. How could he be a father to Max?

Erin Fields had promised she would wait for Lucas that night seven years ago, and she had kept her promise. Now that he returned she still has feelings for him but he was just wanting to leave town again. Erin is the owner of the Cafe and she also has a horse rescue at her home on the outskirts of town. It seems that every time she turns around, Lucas and Max are there and now they are renting the home right next to hers! She has been through as much as Lucas with losing a parent and other trials but her faith has pulled her through whereas Lucas left his behind. I really enjoyed this series.

Book 3: Carbon Copy Cowboy
Jack Colby was never quite satisfied that he didn’t know more of his past. Who was his father? Did he have other relatives? But his mom, Belle, refused to answer. On the final day he asked they argued and she took off on her horse, ended up being thrown and has been in a coma ever since. Jack has carried the guilt and blame for that day. Refusing to look for the past didn’t work when his new sister showed up and he found out about his twin brother. The last thing he needed was the beautiful blonde who was in a car wreck with no money, nowhere to go and no memories of who she is or where she came from.

"Kendra" as she was named by a young girl in the hospital, was frustrated not remembering but she knew she had faith and also that she wanted to help Jack find peace in his life. Only the moody handsome cowboy just became more distressed with each failure to find information. Worse yet she was falling for him and knew she couldn't, not without knowing who might be out there waiting for her to come home. A fiance or worse yet….a husband.

In this third book of the series we still have a missing father and a comatose mother. Jack seems to take on all the anger and guilt for everyone along with feeling inadequate every time he hears about his twin brother, Grayson the undercover cop. Not to mention some mystery person leaving Bibles with each twin and a mysterious note along with them. The fourth book, Look Alike Lawmen, introduces us to Grayson and maybe more answers to their past. A really enjoyable series that makes it hard to put the book down.

Kylie Jones runs to the handsome new lawman, hoping he will help her. She just had a wake up call and realizes she never really wanted to marry Vincent, he was a way to get her family out of debt, not someone she loved. Zach had long ago left Clayton and now that he is back again, he is considering making it his home. Marta Perry
Her Surprise Sister...Texas Twins Book 1
Violet Colby was minding her own business while sitting in a coffee shop when a man came up to her acting as if he knew her. One thing led to another and she soon was face to face with Maddie Wallace...a woman who looked identical to her. The two soon find out they are twins and the journey begins to find out what happened. Maddie’s dad is out of the country and can’t be reached and Violet’s mom is in a coma. Why the secrets and separation?

Landon Derringer had promised Maddie’s father and brothers he would protect her while they were gone. He had failed his own sister but wouldn’t fail Maddie. As identical as the two women were, Landon found himself seeing how different they were on the inside. As the mystery of their separation grows, so does his protective nature. He soon finds himself watching over both of them.

This was such a great story and the beginning of what seems to be an exciting series. We meet the first of the characters in this book and the beginning of the mystery. The people who can solve the mystery are not around to answer questions. The next book is Maddie’s story, Mirror Image Bride by Barbara McMahon, Book 3 is Carbon Copy Cowboy by Arlene James, 4 is Look-Alike Lawman by Glynna Kaye, 5 is The Soldier’s Newfound Family by Kathryn Springer and the final book will come out in December, Reunited for the Holidays by Jillian Hart. I’m looking forward to the rest of the stories and seeing the puzzle pieces come together.

Mendez is in the area, an outlaw who kidnaps women and sells them. Mary is hidden out on the ranch after being rescued from Mendez and the last thing they need is Gracie to bring him to their front door.

A unique story. Gracie believes herself to be in love with Striker and her need to find him is fierce. Yet she finds herself being pulled toward Trevor. The story gives a glimpse of what the reality of an epidemic could have on people...losing friends and family to it. The danger's of the wild untamed lands and the fight for women to be heard...and to wear trousers. I really enjoyed this book. It had unique heroes and heroines and of course it had it's villains as well.

Patricia Davids

Balancing Act by Patricia Davids
 Harlequin Heartwarming.
First released as Love Thine Enemy
(Love Inspired).

Cheryl Steele has a new life as a ballerina. She is no longer Cheryl Thatcher from Kansas. Her sister Angie is getting married in Wichita and then Cheryl will return to her role as the lead dancer in Alice in Wonderland as they tour eight states. Ballet brings joy in her life, at least while she is on the stage. She is determined to keep her past buried even if it's buried alive.

Angie tries to talk her into visiting the old homestead and face her past so she can forgive and move on. For some foolish reason, Cheryl turns off the highway to her past before her big show that night. A choice that will change her future and upset her balanced life. She looks towards the homestead and then leaves as quickly as she can. A late snowstorm has hit in April and to avoid running over a man on a horse, Cheryl ends up in a ditch with a ruined rental car. Suddenly she feels more like Alice falling into the rabbit hole.

Sam Hardin and his horse, Dusty, came within inches of danger. The car almost ran them over. What maniac would be driving fast on a dark snow-filled night? It ends up being a beautiful woman that’s who. After he works at getting her foot out of the bent metal of her car, Sam, Dusty, and the woman go back to his home. Sam keeps telling himself not to be attracted to Cheryl. She is as mismatched to him as his ex-wife, Natalie, was. And she would be leaving as soon as she could.

Cheryl lost her wallet so she could not leave yet as well as having a broken foot. She could not stay in this area long. She found out Sam's mom would know her from school and if others recognized her it could ruin her career. She was too much of a coward to fight being called names and be reminded of her past. Once she meets Kayla and Lindy, Sam's twin girls, she quickly falls in love with them and agrees to stay a while longer to help care for them. She can't work with her broken foot anyway.

Great story. Two mischievous twins girls, a cocky cat, a handsome cowboy, a cantankerous grandmother and more. It once again is a story that reminds us to allow people to put their past behind them and give them a second chance or it can remind us personally to let go of a past and not allow it to drag us down. Sometimes the past wrongs are so dark we miss the good and positive things that were there as well.
